Week 19 arrives (plus 3 days)...renovations underway!

Our babyroom renos are underway....the 'demo work' is all but done with the office reduced to a fold out table and stacks of paper to apease the thesis gods. Next phase will be painting etc once we've got the next ultrasound out of the way. We're not too far away from that, our Feb 10th appointment should determine the sex of our munchkin.

17 Weeks Today!

How is our baby growing?

She/he is nearly 5.5 inches and our doctor says that it's dad's fault if she/he has a giant head (haha). Things are really moving now. This week, our baby's eyes look forward instead of to the sides, her/his ears are almost in their final place, and the rubbery cartilage that will become her/his skeleton is about to start hardening into bone.

How is my life changing?

I read that first time moms often start to feel their baby's movements around now. I get the fluttery feeling that the books describe but there's no soccer match yet with my bladder...

How about a babymoon for a push present?

"A babymoon is a period of time that parents spend bonding with a recently-born baby. More recently the term has come to be used to describe a vacation taken by a couple that is expecting a baby in order to allow the couple to enjoy a final trip ... See Moretogether before the many sleepless nights that usually accompany a newborn baby. Babymoons usually take place at a resort that offers appropriate services like prenatal massage."

"A push present (also known as a "push gift" or "baby bauble") is a present a new father gives a new mother when she gives birth to their child. In practice the present may be given before or after the birth, or even in the delivery room."
