Birthday Olympic Fever Downtown

Very fun day yesterday! We celebrated Jessica's birthday by taking our boy downtown to take in the Olympic atmosphere. It was fantastic. We started our day at the cauldron next to the new convention center, or as you tv watchers know it, the International Broadcast center. That was at about 10 am and there were people everywhere.

From there we took the Canada line over to the olympic village, then took the temporary olympic line (electric bombardier streetcar) to Granville Island for lunch. Atlantic House was lined up all around the island so we settled for lunch at a pub with big screen olympic coverage. From there we landed back in Yaletown, then on to Robson Square. We were greeted by wall to wall people and a few zipliners screaming over our heads. Amazing feel downtown, never before have we been in that environment. Yes, we've done Times Square at New Years, but this was different. Take the numbers from times square, remove all the fencing, let them loose all over the city and paint them in Canadian colors. Awesome.

Add to that the 15 degree sunny weather and ask yourself why we shouldn't host the Olympics every single time.
